    Ancillary Controls

Original price was: $3.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Ancillary controls are a crucial part of every flight and understanding proper control will help to make every flight a safe and comfortable one for you and your passengers.
  • Learn to fly! This flight will help you determine whether or not you are up for the challenge of pursuing formal pilot training! It is meant for you to experience flying in a small aircraft and taking the controls for the first time.

    Familiarization and Preparation for Flight

Original price was: $3.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Knowing the different parts of an airplane and systems of an airplane can save your life in an emergency situation and doing a proper inspection of the plane before flight can mitigate these emergencies all together!

    Instrument Flying

Original price was: $14.00.Current price is: $0.00.
You need an instrument rating to legally file and fly instrument flight rules (IFR). However, haphazardly visual flight rules (VFR) pilots can find themselves in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC). With the proper instrument knowledge and training, a pilot can avoid potentially fatal situations in IMC. Furthermore, knowledge of a series of radio and satellite navigational aids will give pilots more navigational confidence on long distance flights and (hopefully) prevent them from ever getting lost. Your instruments want to talk to you. Learn how to “speak instrument” so you can hear what they are saying. This skill will help you to avoid falling prey to various illusions.

    Pilot Navigation

Original price was: $12.00.Current price is: $0.00.
You need to know how to prepare if you are planning to fly long distances and land at other aerodromes. You will also be tested on your planning, departing, en route, and arrival procedures.
  • Just because the engine has lost power does not mean that you have to plummet toward the earth at catastrophic speeds. With proper training it can be quite the opposite. It may also be possible for you to solve your power problem. You are also being tested on this item during your RPP/PPL/CPL flight test.

    Precautionary Landings

Original price was: $5.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Precautionary landings: As a pilot, you will undoubtedly have to precautionary landings at unfamiliar aerodromes from time to time. It is also possible these aerodromes have no advisory service or published information. Learning the correct procedures will give you more confidence in these situations. You will also be required to perform the precautionary procedures on your flight tests.
  • Understanding how illusions created by drift affects your ability to turn the airplane on a desired track will improve your ability to maneuver the airplane at low levels. Furthermore, wind drift will cause illusions that can lead to potential dangerous situations. If you have a firm understanding of drift your low-level flying skills, such as in the circuit where ground tracks are important, will improve.

    Approach and Landing

Original price was: $7.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Congratulations! You just made your first takeoff in an airplane. However, every airplane that takes off will land. The ability to properly master approach and landing an airplane will help you to build confidence as a pilot. However, it is important that you do not designate landings as the most important skill to master in flying. Landing is one of many skills you will need to master to be a proficient and safe pilot.
  • If you take off you will need to land. Airports can get really busy and there needs to be traffic organization. Imagine streets without stop lights. Chaos. Regardless, some sort of universal traffic organization at aerodromes is necessary for the safe operation of aircraft. The circuit is what we call it and you need to learn it.

    Takeoffs

Original price was: $4.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Takeoffs are an essential skill to flying. There is more to take offs than just barreling down the runway at full power and then pointing the nose at the sky. As you progress through your training and into aviation, as a hobbyist or a professional, you are certain to encounter a variety of runway lengths, as well as surface and wind conditions. When you inevitably encounter a varying combination of these conditions you will want to be equipped with the proper knowledge of how to safely take off from them. This lesson will give you the knowledge you need to make the correct decisions just prior to and just after becoming airborne.

    Slipping

Original price was: $5.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Slipping the airplane correctly is very useful to a pilot. Good control of slips will help you control your forced landings during training and also to control your crosswind landings. A forward slip may even become useful during a flap failure.
  • Spiral dives can easily develop if you find yourself in clouds or poor visibility. Once you enter a spiral dive you might only have 178 seconds to live! The ability to recognize the spiral and recover can save you and your passengers lives. The key is interpreting what your instruments are telling you. You will be able to sense a spiral dive on a beautiful day with great visibility, but it is much harder to recognize the behaviour of the aircraft when everything is white.

    Spinning

Original price was: $5.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Spins can be scary for any pilot, and especially for the student pilot. The first time you enter a spin you will likely try to reach for the holy $&#% handles. Unfortunately, most airplanes do not have any. Spins can also be deadly if inadvertently entered with no knowledge of proper recovery techniques. Learning about the conditions that lead to a spin will hopefully ensure you never inadvertently enter one. However, if you do happen to enter a spin inadvertently, proper recovery training will give you the best chance at not becoming a statistic. You will also be required to enter and recover from a spin on a flight test if you plan on becoming a Canadian commercial pilot. There is no spin requirement on Canadian private pilot flight tests.
  • Stall

    $0.00
Recognition and recovery from a stall could save your passengers and your life one day. It only takes a few seconds of distraction in the circuit to orientate in an attitude that produces a stall. Proper stall training will increase your ability to recover quickly and with minimal lost of altitude will be essential to your survival. Furthermore, you are also tested on your ability to stall and recover the airplane for you PPL, CPL, and your Multi-Engine flight tests.
  • Slow flight is not a part of flight in which you should be scared. Learning how to remain in complete control of the airplane, as well as recognizing the symptoms of slow flight, will help you to build more confidence as a pilot.

    Flight for Range and Endurance

Original price was: $5.00.Current price is: $0.00.
The range of one airplane can vary greatly as there are lots of variables that are never constant, such as wind speed and direction, temperature, center of gravity, and weight. You should know how these variables affect the range of your aircraft so that you can make educated decisions on cross country flights.

    Turns

Original price was: $8.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Turning is clearly a fundamental aspect of flying. Understanding proper turning techniques are essential to becoming a proficient pilot. You will also need to be proficient at steep turns for your flight test. Furthermore, it is important to know how turning affects the stall speed of your airplane.
  • If you take off you will land. Learning proper descending techniques are important for landing with power and without power. Having the proper background knowledge and the proper technique will help you master exercises 18 and 22.

    Climbing

Original price was: $7.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Climbing is a fundamental part of flying. If you cannot climb you will never leave the ground and thus will never fly. Climbing is also more complicated than it sounds. There are different rates and angles of climb that are based on speeds. You might choose one type of climb during take off over an obstacle or another type of climb for increased vision in an area with lots of traffic.
  • Straight and Level Flight: The ability to maintain a heading, altitude, at different airspeeds is a fundamental skill of flying. You will use it on cross country flights, in the circuit, air traffic controllers will require you to maintain headings and altitudes in controlled airspace, or you might have controlled airspace ceilings or floors that you need to fly directly under or over. The sooner you can master this skill the sooner your instructor will stop barking in your ear on the way to and from the practice area.
  • Understanding the different airplane attitudes and movements and how they are controlled are fundamental to learning to fly an airplane. Without proper knowledge of which controls are used to make changes to your airplanes orientation you will not be able to perform the necessary air exercises to prepare you for your flight test.

    Taxiing

Original price was: $2.00.Current price is: $0.00.
Taxiing of an airplane is the beginning and ending of every flight. It is necessary to learn the proper techniques to successfully maneuver the airplane on the ground, to avoid obstacles or potential damage from wind.
